Understanding the risk that COVID-19 poses to our residents, Emerson Communities are operating under an abundance of caution in an effort to do everything we can to avoid an instance of coronavirus within our Communities. We are restricting all visitors into our Community except for critical caregivers and medical personnel. Anyone who has traveled out of the state or country in the past 30 days, anyone who has flu-like symptoms or has been exposed to those with flu-like symptoms, and anyone with a fever above 100° will not be permitted to enter the Community. These protocols apply to all entering the Community, including our team members.
We have made the decision to temporarily close the dining room and are not hosting group activities until further notice. In addition, transportation is being limited as are maintenance services. Related to dining, all meals will be delivered door-to-door. During this timeframe, we are strongly encouraging residents to stay in their apartments, asking residents only to leave the Community if necessary. Residents who leave the Community are being asked to isolate for 14 days upon their return and self-monitor their temperature and how they are generally “feeling” on a form that will help them track any changes. Our teams have also implemented significant sanitization measures to ensure surfaces, especially those being touched frequently, are being sanitized ongoing.
As a Community, we recognize that we are each responsible to one another, and we are responsible to ensure that we do everything we can to avoid coronavirus. Residents who feel feverish or who are experiencing flu-like symptoms should not leave their apartment and should contact the concierge immediately.
Much consideration is being given to the decisions we are making to protect everyone. It is in everyone’s best interest to proceed with the utmost of caution; Emerson communities are amongst many other senior living communities who have made the same decisions.
Please know the decisions to make these changes were not taken lightly, and we are hopeful that we will not have to operate this way for long!
